Oh, forgot:

The mail you write about is BULL.

Dont you find it strange, that two people can read the same book - and have wildly different experiences? One goes out to fight the world, the other becomes calm and happy...

Fear. These nutcases that proclaim their own salvation (from what by the way, hell was determined a symbol by the church long ago) and the death of others are on the lowest possible step. They are afraid. They need an enemy .. and since they dont recognize their own satan (Shaitan means "accuser" in jewish. Your EGO) - they project it onto others. What would the false self do without an enemy i wonder :)

06jk,
I am a born-again Christian and I feel the same way as you do about that forwarded email. I don't think that Christians who send those things really think about what it is they are saying. They seem to be in favor of it just because it is pro-God.
It is not my intention to step on any toes here, but I think your Catholicism may be part of your issue in trying to figure things out. From what I currently know about Catholicism, there are plenty of things that don't line up with scripture. If you drop the denominational stuff and simply seek God, asking Him to reveal the truth of scripture for you, regardless of what you want it to say, and regardless of whether it means you have to change your own thinking and ways of living... and if you seek the truth with a sincere heart, God will not deny you. This is what I have done and boy is God ever faithful in being a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Heb 11:6).
I have been looking over information about different Christian denominations, and in every case I am finding "doctrines of men," and you know what Jesus said..."Making the Word of God of none effect through your traditions" (Mark 7:13) and "But in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines, the commandments of men." (Matt 15:9).
I have not found church doctrine yet that doesn't contradict the Word of God. Twisting it, using it in a biased way.
I just pray to God when I study, that He will reveal truth to me so that I can properly now Him. And talk about revelation knowledge!!
Someone who is good at cutting through a lot of the denominational biases is a man named Andrew Wommack. He has a lot of helpful material that he makes available completely free on his site awmi.net.
All the best to you in your searching, from another searching seeker...Brenda
"Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you."

You know.... Lincoln got it in the head because he offended God by loving to tell dirty sin filled jokes at most inappropriate times! LOL

Remember to look at what is of value in Religon and not the man made screwed up dogma of it.

It is more important to understand the lessons written in the bible in general than to take them in the literal sense.

It doesnt matter if Jesus was the esoteric son of god that christian dogma states or if he were simply a child of God as we all are. What matters is that he lead us by example and taught of faith, hope, love, and created social change and inspired millions many generations after his death and brought them closer to God.

If you are so inclined, please read my blog post on the subject

Hey heisthatheis. Thanks a ton for the reply. I have read the Bible quite extensively because I have been attending a Catholic school since I was five, so I know quite a bit about it.

I am big on the free will thing from God. I see it as one of the greatest gifts He has given us.

yes soul searching and looking inward so that you aren't led blindly isfine but at some point you need to go home. read the bible, see what it has to offer. if you do not like it that is your loss, but i believe it will be the biggest mistake of your life. do i believe god kills people just because they speak out against him, no. god is not vengeful, god is loving. he does not want to hurt us but he gave us free will so that we would have a choice. the choice is yours

Hey, I don't know if you remember me, but I am Greg Luka's cousin. I thought you made a really good point here. People are blind about there religion. Personally I am still trying to figure out my true beliefs. I'm leaning towards simply being Christian as opposed to just Catholic. But what I've come to really believe is that those who do not question their faith do not truly own it or understand it for that matter. I think it's good that you don't just take everything that is fed to you. We should question things.

See, I don't really reject Christianity. I'm just trying to figure it all out, you know? But there are aspects of what people do to the faith that I flat out DO reject.

I pretty much rejected Christianity early in my life.
I am a spiritual person and do have faith but what I believe isn't in the Bible. I'm not really sure what to label it or if I really do want a label. I don't feel that religion should dictate that way I live.

What I saying, I could relate to your struggle.
